In this series of conversations, Behind the Scenes at Topos Labs, you’ll get a sneak peek into the various teams and people who contribute to our success. We’ll touch on everything from trends and product innovation to culture and passion.
Today let’s meet our second summer intern, Morgan Petersen. She is a graduate student earning her master’s in business administration at Touro University Worldwide.
Parna: What do you want to be when you grow up and why?
Morgan: I possess a business-oriented mind with the heart of a creative. I embrace both.
I want to work with businesses in a capacity that enables me to be a true strategic, proactive problem solver. My mind is naturally geared for observing a system in action, intuitively noting both weaknesses and strengths, and constructing ways to make changes that result in meaningful added value.
I also want to be an author. I love creative writing and have explored this passion with infinite curiosity. I’ve completed two young adult novels, the latter of which I’m currently seeking literary representation for. To see my stories in the hands of readers is my dream incarnate.
Parna: How was your internship experience and what did you gain from it?
Morgan: By working at Topos Labs, I gained a total paradigm shift in how I perceive artificial intelligence. Before, I saw AI as a nebulous, futuristic concept that only elite professionals were involved in. Now, I’m contributing firsthand to a cutting-edge technology that will change the world, and the businesses that operate within it, for the better. Gracie taught me that AI is tangible, powerful, and at one’s fingertips. The modern Sisyphus challenge with knowledge has been to sift through vast quantities of data in the quest to identify, extract, and utilize only the most vital pieces of information, before collapsing under its weight. Gracie makes this possible.
My most exciting memory was when I realized that I’d get to work with such a diverse, intelligent, and talented team. We come from very different backgrounds ranging from the liberal arts and business to engineering, which cemented my paradigm shift. Gracie makes AI accessible to everyone, and Topos Labs proves that from the inside out.
Parna: What’s the one piece of advice you’d offer to future interns?
Morgan: Working with AI for the first time can be daunting. My advice is to be patient with yourself and the learning process. Welcome the uncertainty of the unknown, the confusion of wielding a new tool. These are signs that you’re learning and that meaningful growth is taking root, preparing you to achieve your fullest potential.
Parna: If Gracie were a hardware product, how would you describe it?
Morgan: Vitamix blender. Gracie distills complex material into its comprehensible components.
